Clare House
Design and build contract to make structural alterations and extensions to the existing 70,000sq ft, three storey building, providing a platform to enable the Workspace 2010 standard to be achieved. This facility was a pathfinder project for Workplace 2010 which was a major initiative to upgrade and modernise the Northern Ireland Civil Service Office Accommodation, to improve the quality and efficiency of its service. The works provided a flexible workplace with a mixture of formal and informal spaces including meeting rooms, grouped work stations, business lounge touchdown zones, knowledge centre, restaurant and internet café. The colourful and stimulating internal environment incorporating a mixture of natural timber and carpet flooring, elliptical feature staircase, glazed balustrading around a central atrium, modern furniture system and plasma screens.
In this energy efficient building we incorporated ground water cooling, solar water heating for domestic hot water use and PV installation as a power source. The building achieved a BREEAM rating of Very Good.
The contract period of ten months required rigorous progress and financial reporting to ensure the project was delivered on time and to budget while maintaining the highest possible standards of quality.
