Cranagh Village Student Accommodation

The design and build of a new student accommodation complex, to create 350 rooms in 70 apartments, contained within a mixture of two and three storey blocks, located at the University of Ulster, Coleraine, known as Cranagh Student Village. The traditional build was located within a live campus environment with shared access, designed to create a village feeling. The project was complete with administration buildings, offering dual usage as quality student facilities during university semesters and holiday apartments through the summer break. The M&E service installations were designed considering the use of the buildings and their domestic nature, ensuring minimal lifecycle costs for instance we installed high efficiency condensing boilers rather than a central boiler plant. Other sustainability measures included the use of presence detection lighting and the provision of an efficient airtight thermal box by increasing the thermal performance of the building fabric.

We successful worked within the live university campus and decanted students during and between term times which required collaborative working with the university and students to develop a programme around peak periods and exam times.
